Work break-down Structure

CAMeLEAN PM permits creation of work break down structure on the fly through the batch mode creation. The WBS can be reorganized and grouped and made deliverable and mile stone oriented at will. The powerful task template features enables reuse of best practices and continues improvement on the creation of a WBS that is most suited to the Project. The table view of the WBS coupled with the Gantt view separated by a resizable split bar provides a powerful tool that makes the creation of Work Break Down structure and its associated elements a snap. The various columns that correspond to each level of work break down provide easy editing of crucial components like lifecycle states and work duration. CAMeLEAN PM’s WBS also allows decomposition of work by Users assigned to individual tasks. A user assigned to an individual task becomes the owner of the task and can create his own WBS by decomposing the individual tasks into the desired number of sub tasks. The power and flexibility of the WBS interface in CAMeLEAN PM is such that each element of the Project’s scope of work can be micro managed by the Users assigned to individual tasks.

Deliverable Management

CAMeLEAN PM provides a rich choice to the Project Planner to attach deliverables either with any individual element of the Work Breakdown Structure and/or to mile stones. Any tangible work product like a feasibility study, detail design or even a web URL can be set as a deliverable in CAMeLEAN PM. The creation and status of deliverables are indicated by color coded symbols in the Gantt chart and thus enables easy review of both key deliverables and phase-end reviews. The CAMeLEAN PM deliverable management system is designed to establish the desired level of management control. Deliverables can be set as ‘End relative’, ‘Deliverable relative (relative to another deliverable)’, ‘ratio’ or absolute. The deliverables can also be linked to a lifecycle engine. The output for the deliverable in the form of a file or web URL can be uploaded into the system. The deliverables in CAMeLEAN PM fits the general sequential logic and can be designed to ensure proper definition of the product of the project. Through deliverable management the Project Manger can take key decisions on determining whether the Project should move to the next phase as also to detect and correct errors cost effectively.

Time Management

CAMeLEAN PM ensures total control over time management of tasks and human resources. For every task in the WBS, various time related information such as start date, end date, specified duration, calendar duration, actual start date, actual end date as well as assignment project start date at the parent task level can be set and controlled. All the processes of Project Time Management like activity definition, activity sequencing, duration estimation, schedule development and control can be effectively implemented in CAMeLEAN PM. CAMeLEAN PM provides industry standard tools relating to Project time management. A very important and crucial factor in time management is management of time spent on the various project activities by the users who have been assigned the responsibility of executing the tasks in the WBS. This is very effectively managed in CAMeLEAN PM through the use of Time Sheets. CAMeLEAN PM provides a very clear and detailed interface for entering time spent on each activity by the users assigned to various tasks. CAMeLEAN PM provides the flexibility to add categories of tasks against which the user can log in the time spent. The data from time sheet entries coupled with the resource graph provides the Project Manager with complete control over the time management process.

Issue Management

CAMeLEAN PM provides an efficient method for raising issues at the task level, track the issues and facilitate resolution. Team members have the ability to automatically or manually generate an issue linked to a task rather than just sending email or a phone call to notify other team members of a problem. Once an issue is created, its status and all the details of the issue are immediately available to the total authorized project team. Further, the CAMeLEAN PM Issue Management System severs multiple purposes. Apart from enabling the Project manager and users identify and share issues relating to implementation of tasks, automatic generation of issues by the system is triggered when deviations occur from the parameters set by the Project Manager through the built in tools for setting dependencies, constraints and schedules for attached elements to tasks. The multiple functions of the issue management system in CAMeLEAN PM covers generation of user/system defined issues as also risk management. A task problem score that combines issue severity, missed deliverable, task completion and schedule overruns is used by CAMeLEAN PM as a risk management measure.

Change management

CAMeLEAN PM facilitates integrated change control though the change management system. Requests for change at the various task levels can be monitored in CAMeLEAN PM by the Project Manager who can renegotiate the time required and monitor these elements through the Change Request Manager. The sources for change requests are issues because change request is also a project issue. Hence a change request can be created on an Issue, when Project Manager changes the life cycle of an Issue to ‘CRF State’. The Change request manager of CAMeLEAN PM is an effective interface for coordinating changes across projects. A change request can be generated through the management of lifecycle of an issue or can be generated directly from any task in the WBS. Since the Project and individual task phases are also controlled by individual lifecycle engines, Project Plan development, Project Plan execution and integrated change control are part of the Project integration management in CAMeLEAN PM.

EVA

The Earned value indicators in CAMeLEAN PM meet the requirement for accurate and consistent information across numerous complex and interrelated projects. The Earned Value indicators in CAMeLEAN PM help the Project Manager to identify through objective indicators as to which projects are on schedule, where projects stand on budget, and where projects stand on work accomplishment. The system calculates the work ‘earned’ or ‘credited’ as it is completed. The Earned Value Report in CAMeLEAN PM rolls up the progress of many tasks into an overall project status. It fulfills the need for a uniform unit of measure and provides an early warning signal for prompt corrective action. The EVA report in CAMeLEAN PM gives very effective feed back on individual and collective performance of projects. Derived metrics like schedule variance and cost gives reliable indicators of Project health. Other derivative matrix like Schedule Performance Index and Cost Performance Index available in CAMeLEAN PM are statistically accurate indicators of final cost results.

Costing

CAMeLEAN PM allows complete control over costs incurred by Users as well as Project Roles. In CAMeLEAN PM, a user with Project Manager Role will be able to budget expense on various projects. Expenses can be budgeted on each task or on a parent task. The task wise distribution is captured on the parent task. Expense Categories and Expense Groups can be set by the Project Manager. Each Expense Category is coupled with an Expense Group. Expense Group is a top-level classification of Expense Categories with values like 'billable' and 'non-billable'. The categories under the 'billable' group are taken into consideration for the actual computation of the expenses. A user with the appropriate permissions can view the Expense Sheet Manager which lists the subordinate task wise / day wise Expense Budget, Expense Approved / Expense Submitted and Total Submitted Expense. The Project specific Costing tab of CAMeLEAN PM lists the Task Group Budget, Task Group Submitted Cost, Task Group Balance, Task Budget, Task Submitted Cost and Balance. The Project specific Costing tab gives the Project Manager a real time view of the costing for the Project. The Costing module of CAMeLEAN PM provides a professional and comprehensive costing tool to the Project Manager.
